Simply put, working with wood to create a unique, functional and beautiful piece
of furniture is my passion.
It is a genuine appreciation of beauty - a respect and knowledge that beauty is something
that is rarely born but instead refined and brought out of something raw.
For my clients beauty is the end result. It is a piece of furniture that brings
about a feeling of peace and admiration every time you see it. It’s a feeling that
you want to put into words, but ultimately it’s best to just appreciate the whole.
For me, there is beauty in every step of the process - meeting a new client and understanding
exactly what it is they want to experience from a piece of custom furniture, designing
a shape and structure that has the foundation of beauty, selecting the wood or veneer
that has just the right grain structure to compliment the lines of the design, and
working the parts to make a whole that is greater than their sum. There is beauty
in bringing out the figure that has developed over the many years in a tree’s life.
There is beauty in completion, knowledge that something that did not exist, now stands
before you as if to say “I was here the whole time”.
I believe that beauty is not easy, nor is it fleeting, it endures and it makes all
the effort worthwhile.
This is why making furniture is my passion.
